Hello! I’d like to introduce myself as the new president of the Michigan Disability Sports Alliance and the Michigan Victory Games (MVG). My name is Randall Dyk, and I took over from MaryAnn Weaver this past June.
Before my introduction, I would like to take a moment to thank MaryAnn for her years of dedicated service as the president of MVG. She has been president for over 10 years, and as most of you know, has done an incredible job. She took over at a time when MVG was struggling, and its future was in doubt. MVG is now on stable financial ground and has a good foundation for the future, all thanks to MaryAnn’s amazing work as president. We hope to be able to “officially” thank her and say goodbye at the 2021 Victory Games.
Now a little bit about me. I started volunteering with the Grand Rapids Eagles team in 1996, and have been involved with MVG in some capacity ever since then. I have served as the medical director for the games for over 20 years. I have been on the board for 4 years, the past 2 years as Vice President. My brother Brian was a board member in the past, and my son Nathan has been a member of the Grand Rapids Eagles team for several years. And he LOVES the Victory Games.
I live in Kalamazoo, MI, and am married to Christee and have 3 children. Nathan is 24 and in the Young Adult Program, Lily is a high school sophomore, and Emilee is a 7th grader. Lily and Emilee, along with my nephews, love volunteering at Victory Games. I am a pediatrician at Bronson Rambling Road Pediatrics, and have a farm on the side, where I have llamas and alpacas, donkeys, emus, and lots of birds!
I am looking forward to the 2021 Michigan Victory Games, the 45th year of the event! We have already started planning, and are hoping that by the spring the COVID virus will be more under control so we can all meet up again at Michigan State. Please check us out on our Facebook page or website for more information and updates. Please also feel free to email me with any concerns, questions, or advice you have concerning the Michigan Victory Games. dykr@bronsonhg.org We are always looking for new board members, or anyone who is willing to help in any way. We are especially looking for help with fundraising and promotions. If you, or anyone you know, have expertise in those areas and are willing to help, please let me know.
See you in 2021!
